“Emphasis is put on excellence in all areas of the teaching and learning, and of the co-curriculum activities. The ultimate goal of the entire school life is the holistic well-being of the learners through the consideration of the following well-being dimensions: cognitive, health and safety, education, family and peer relationship, behavioural attitudes and lifestyles as informed by national and international conventions concerning the child growth and development.”

“St Cecilia Community Centre does not mainly aim to impart a specific set of notions, but to communicate to the learners the joy and the taste of learning and doing it by themselves, so that they may retain the habit outside the centre, throughout their life.”

ABBA Association, based in Switzerland, has always made education and training a priority in its interventions in the different countries where it has been involved in projects. It is committed to ensuring that the new generation can become a key player in its socio-economic development. In 2019 the ABBA Committee ratified its decision to assist St. Cecilia school in Dundori with a project that considers prior, medium and long-term needs. The primary objective was the construction of a functional, welcoming and a safe learning centre which is built, not only according to the criteria required by the Government, but that also takes into account the environmental impact.

Among the secondary objectives was to transform St. Cecilia into a “reference centre” through academic excellence and high quality standards of the school. The school also aims at impacting the community by creating a possibility of adding knowledge and skills to its members. This would be attained by offering courses and cultural activities. This way, the desired change can be acquired by the population, thus, helping it to overcome the challenges that are posed by a progressively evolving society.

ABBA’s involvement, therefore, refers to its mission which is based on two main points: pertinence and relevance. Among the tasks that ABBA tries to assume are: the search for a better integration and cohesion between the various activities of a project, strengthened and consolidated support of the local partner and active participation of partners with the aim of pursuing sustainability.

The whole project will be carried out in collaboration with the Diocese of Nyahururu, St. Charles Lwanga Parish in Dundori and the department of education of Nyandarua County.
