Grade 2 – Rachel Carson

Welcome to Grade 2 at St. Cecilia Community Learning Centre, named in honor of environmentalist Rachel Carson!

Grade 2 is a transformative year filled with growth and exciting discoveries! Our innovative methodology empowers students to build upon their foundational skills while exploring new interests.

Here’s what you can expect from our second-grade class:

  • Engaging Curriculum: Our dynamic curriculum integrates reading, writing, math, and science with interactive and hands-on activities, making learning both stimulating and enjoyable.
  • Creative Exploration: We encourage students to unleash their creativity and express themselves through engaging art and music activities, fostering a love for self-expression and imagination.
  • Supportive Environment: In our classrooms, students thrive in a safe and nurturing environment created by our caring teachers, who are dedicated to each child’s academic and emotional growth.

Rachel Carson, the environmentalist after whom our Grade 2 class is named, was a pioneering scientist, writer, and advocate for environmental conservation. Her groundbreaking research, particularly in her book “Silent Spring,” raised awareness about the harmful effects of pesticides on the environment and human health. Carson’s work inspired a global environmental movement and emphasized the importance of protecting our natural world for future generations.

Much like Rachel Carson’s dedication to environmental stewardship and education, our second-grade class is committed to fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep respect for our planet.
